Magicians perform within the 120-seat theatre, where a 43-seat lounge on the lower level provides the opportunity to have wandering magicians perform tricks for you tableside.Ĭhicago Magic Lounge is hoping to reawaken a long-standing tradition of magic in the city. In the theatre, expect a heavy dose of close-up magic alongside the mainstage event. The bar serves up craft cocktails, and the bartender might even mix in a card trick or too while shaking up your drink. The lounge consists of three parts: the library entry room, a bar and the theatre itself. The lounge is a swanky, 1940s, Art Deco affair: think velvet and gold everywhere. The washing machines are, of course, a trick door, one that swings open to reveal the hidden lounge within. The double doors give way to a small huddle-space, where eager magic-lovers wait before a wall of washing machines, spinning a never-ending cycle of fake laundry. In fact, you wouldn’t even know you were in the right place if it weren’t for the address. Around the doors, old magic show flyers are plastered, so faded into the building facade that you wouldn’t think twice about it.
